Love this pattern
Love how easy this pattern was to follow and to print. I never used a pattern with a layer option to be able to only print the size(s) you need. Also love that it gives so many sizes so will be able to use for years to come.
If your little one wants to dress up as a classic prince or pirate, Merrick’s is the perfect shirt pattern for you! It has a low V-neckline and classic collar that your little one sees in books and movies, giving an authentic look to whatever character you may choose. You can leave the neckline open if you want, or add the laces for extra flair, using grommets or buttonholes as described in the pattern. It’s so much easier than it looks! Merrick’s also features four sleeve options: short sleeves, long regular sleeves, long casing sleeves, and long sleeves with a “ruffled” look for the more piratey pirates. (Arrrr!) - Computer drawn pattern pieces you can print over and over again; no more patterns that rip or tear! We now include templates for square and rectangle shaped pieces to cut and print out for those who prefer this option. As always, we will continue to include a cutting chart for those of you that choose to use a rotary cutter and ruler to cut your pieces.
Please note that PDF patterns differ from traditional sewing patterns, and not all PDF designers have the same style. We prefer to give measurements for simple rectangles instead of rectangular pattern pieces to save your time, paper, ink, and tape. You will only receive pattern pieces for curved portions of the garment, and you will follow the cutting chart for the remaining pieces.

Merrick's Boys Prince & Pirate shirt
This is a great pattern. I used it to make a disco shirt in blue satin for a school concert costume. It came up fantastic. Great instructions.
Perfect in every way.
This is easily the most clear and easy to follow pattern I have ever used. The assembly method for the printed pdf was easy to follow. Every step of the actual sewing is clearly explained and illustrated - its impossible to make a mistake! The end result is a gorgeous top equally perfect for a pirate or prince, and it would make great daywear too. Highly recommended.
This pattern saved me
I am not what you would call a seamstress by any stretch of the word. But this pattern was versitle, straight forward, and easy to follow. I changed it up some to make different sleeves for my sons Dread Pirate Roberts (Princess Bride) costume. And was able to make it in a couple of hours. Thank you for a wonderful pattern that I can use for years to come.
