Poppy's Peekaboo Dress was the first tie-back bodice of its kind! Since its release and immediate explosion into the boutique world in 2013, others have tried to recreate this iconic bodice, but you can't beat an original! This adorable dress was designed for spring and summer, but many have layered it with a long sleeve shirt and ruffle pants and it's even cute for fall and winter! Besides the tie-back, this pattern also features a sweetheart shaped front bodice, elastic back waist, and a double layer skirt with different peekaboo options.  This pattern can also be created as a single layer skirt or a double layer without the peekaboo option. The babies pattern includes a closed back version since a knot on the back may be uncomfortable to babies who spend most of their time on their backs. This pattern works best with wovens, but many have upcycled t-shirts to use as the bodice (tutorial HERE). Get creative with rayon challis or lace to create that one-of-a-kind, fun, yet girlie, outfit your daughter or boutique customers will love! The sky is the limit now let’s see what YOU can do with it!

Very cute dress, but the pattern needs improvement.

Posted by Kayla Powell on 26th Jan 2016

The over all pattern is written very well, and if you are an experienced seamstress you will have no problems, but if you are not an experienced seamstress you week have issues. The one main thing is the strap construction, it is not clear on how you put them together and seams like a step is skipped. I actually had to add length to the back strap pieces to even be able to tie a nice now in the back.

Great dress. The instructions for the straps/bodice could be improved some. Not real clear on the strap construction/attachment potion (maybe add pictures using different fabrics for front and lining to distinguish placement better for the advanced beginners), but otherwise excellent dress overall! Very quick sew!

So easy and adorable! I have made 2 since purchasing it and even though I live in the south, I will pair the dress with a long tee so my girls can sport one of their many CKC dresses! I loved it so much I have already purchased another pattern that will challenge me...shirring :)
