Sue Ellen’s Smocked Bishop Dress, Top and Romper is the perfect choice for any occasion. The sweet flutter sleeves and round neckline add femininity. The cotton fabric makes Sue Ellen perfect for christenings, Easter Sunday, summer picnics, birthday parties, back to school and so much more! Hand smocking around the collar turns the simple silhouette into a family heirloom. Sue Ellen is a comfortable, loose fitting style that is perfect as a dress or top. Additional instructions included teach you how to turn this pattern (and any other hemmed dress) into a romper. No special equipment is needed to create the perfect look; but the pattern does include adjustments necessary when using a pleater. A smocking plate is included for all sizes, but you can add your own special touch by substituting another smocking plate or design. Sue Ellen is perfect for party wear and play wear at natural pageants. The sky is the limit, now see what you can create.

    Great Pattern

I couldn't have been happier with this pattern. It was so thorough, and my first attempt at smocking turned out a great success. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

    grenat pattern

The pattern is simple to follow. The added videos are great for a newby like me. I have a lot of sewing experience, but this was my first smocked bishop. I would not recommend it to a inexperienced sewer, but intermediate or advanced.

This pattern is the consume bishop pattern for a wide range of sizes. The smocking pattern is great, but of course you can use whatever smocking pattern you want. The directions are very detailed and complete.

    Smocking is for everyone!

Posted by Sarah Kaye on 24th Mar 2017

I have always wanted to learn how to smock. This pattern taught me every step of the way to do the entire thing by hand without using any special machines or equipment! Such a simple but yet timeless design and style. The included videos are extremely helpful too, to help visualize each new technique. I love that all sizes are included in this one pattern, from newborn to 14! Definately on my list of dresses to make as gifts for baby showers/new babies too.

I have always wanted to learn how to smock but have been too scared to even try. This pattern makes smocking easy to follow- even for a new seamstress. The videos show you exactly what to do if you are a visual learner- they definitely helped me when I was questioning myself!! The results are amaaazing!!! I have never been more proud of something I have made.

Sue Ellen is such a fun pattern. It takes work but it is totally worth it! On my last stitch I was sad and then ready to do it again lol:) I love a good challenge and this was my first time smocking! I am so glad I learned this technique and I know I will make many more Sue Ellen's!!

    Bringing back smocking!

This pattern is amazing! So much simpler than any other smocking patterns out there, and turns out a beautiful finished product. Lots of pictures and videos throughout to break each step down into manageable pieces.
